While a lot of attention has gone to the fact that the FBI can shut your internet down, the truth is that they have done a remarkable job of detecting the virus, shutting down the underground ring who set it in motion, setting up interim servers to allow people to get their computers fixed, and working with internet providers to help their clients fix the problems.   So, for the most part the malware threat has been mitigated, leaving very few people without internet.

At this point if you have internet, you’re probably OK, however your internet provider such as AT&T or Comcast might be doing something on their end to make sure you can get internet until your computer is fixed.  This work-around will come to an end though, so you will still need to get your computer fixed. 

You can check your computer at the FBI website to see if it is infected with the virus.

If you or someone you know does have a computer that has been infected with DNSChanger, call your internet provider for help.  They have technicians trained for this very issue and I understand it is a pretty easy fix.
